Come and check out our Book Exchange! If you’re an avid reader, feel free to visit our space located upstairs at Barrels & Stills Hawthorne. Bring in your previously read books and swap them for ones you haven’t. We have a growing range of genres to choose from. Grab a book, then find a shady spot at the park and start reading!
How Does the Book Exchange Work?
You can swap or just buy our second-hand books. All our second-hand books are for sale. You do not need to bring any books in to buy our second-hand books. All our second-hand books are priced. You do not have to bring our second-hand books back once you have read them, they are yours to keep!
Exchanging Your Books
We will take back any of the books you buy or swap from us provided it is in the same condition as when you bought or swapped it.
We only swap books for our second-hand books - we do not swap books for cash or other products in store other than second-hand books.
I WANT TO DONATE BOOKS
Have books to donate? If you have any nearly-new books you no longer read, simply add these to the Book Swap shelves, or if you have multiple books, please drop these off anytime between 10am – 8pm Tuesday to Sunday.
(Please don’t leave books outside when store is closed).
Book Swap Rules:
Please donate clean, undamaged books in good condition.
Include diverse genres for a varied collection.
Conditions of use
All books donated become the property of Barrels & Stills Hawthorne.
Barrels & Stills Hawthorne reserves the right to deal with this property in its absolute discretion in any way it sees fit. This may involve:
Making the books available for users to ‘swap’. i.e. take a book for their use
Dispose of books if damaged/deemed inappropriate/excess to needs
