About the event

Our second session of Italian wines, a lineup all from the region of Piedmont, North Italy. The night hosted by Brian Carpenter from Bibendum Wine Co.

Wines on tasting:

Linnaea Allora Cortese Dell'Alto Monferrato DOC 2022

This wine bursts with flavours of summer pear juice, limes, yuzu peel, and pretty flowers. Its aroma is incredibly seductive. The texture of the wine complements the nose, offering flavours similar to the lemon bars from your favourite country bakery, with a hint of saffron threads. This Cortese is even more bright and floral than usual, delivering waves of olfactory pleasure. It is a must for carefree fun and spring days!

Ca' d'Gal Barbera d'Asti 2021

This is an exceptional Barbera wine with a pure and invigorating taste. The wine boasts refreshing acidity and lively tannins that envelop a creamy blend of blueberry and plum flavours. It pairs perfectly with salami, Agnolotti del Plin, and for those feeling adventurous, the traditional Piemontese dish of Bollito Misto.

Massolino Langhe Nebbiolo 2021

The 2021 wine is stunning. It has a ripe yet pure taste with flavours of mulberry, red cherry, and anise. The fine, chalky tannins and perfumed finish make it an excellent choice. The wine has a cherry, red fruit, a little almond, light spice, and a touch of floral and aniseed. It is medium-bodied with fresh red fruits, understated, lively, and a little new leather. The bright finish of good length has some chalky grip following, making it charming and good for drinking.

Albino Rocca Barbaresco 2020

This wine is young but already has a great combination of sweet cherry, hoisin, and tea leaf flavours that are complemented by its impressive texture and tension. The taste is more attractive than Ronchi, with fresh red berries blended with fine tannins and refreshing acidity. This vintage is possibly the most approachable and delicate of the Crus this year, making it an absolute standout.
